Easily change out your air filters by Central Carolina Air Conditioning

index

Many people not only forget to change out their air filters regularly but don’t know where they are located and how easy they are to change out.

Changing out your air filter regularly is not only easy, it’s smart. Here at Central Carolina Air Conditioning change them out for you when we do our maintenance services. However, every month, you should also be changing them out for better air quality for your health, be more energy efficient and save money on needless repairs to your overused system!

Air filters come in a variety of sizes as height and length will depend on the manufacturer. However, instead of playing the guessing game at the store, you can pull one out easily as most have the dimensions written on the side for you. However, if yours doesn’t, simply just measure each side twice for accuracy and take the measurements with you when purchasing new ones. Many will measure out with fractional dimensions (i.e. 12 3/4″) and you just round up to the next whole number. So 8 1/2″ x 14 3/4 by 1″ would round up to 9 x 15 x 1.

Regarding location of your air filter, sometimes they are located close to your HVAC controls or close to the air conditioner’s air handler. The air handler is a large box that contains your fan and fan motor that move air throughout your home. If your home has more than one HVAC system then you will have two or more filters. Be sure to check your returns to see if there is an air filter located there as well.

Spring Cleaning Tips- change out those air filters!

Did you know that by not changing out your air filters, that it causes undue stress on your air conditioning units? Many people don’t maintain their air conditioning units properly nor change out their air conditioning filters as needed.

Previously, we have written about a few reasons to change out your air filters. Your health should be your primary concern.  Also, it lowers your utility bills and who doesn’t want to save money every month?

When Central Carolina Air Conditioning installs an air conditioning unit, we use quality systems with quality parts. However, if you don’t maintain your system with regular maintenance and changing out your air filters, then your system has to work even harder to keep you comfortable in warmer temperatures.

As contaminates build up on the filters, it restricts air flow around your entire home and your system has to use more energy to circulate cooler air.  Overtime, this undue stress can cause premature wear resulting in an air conditioning unit that calls it quits before it should!

Don’t be shortsighted and cost yourself more money in the long run! We also change out your air filters with your regular tune ups.  Our service technicians will swap out the old ones for clean ones every time we visit.  Give us a call at 800-461-3010 to schedule yours today before time runs out!

Are you guilty of not changing out your air filters every month? We all get busy and forget but there’s plenty of reasons to change them out!

Your Health:

By far one of the most important reasons, your health should be your first concern and the number one reason to change your air filters. Dust, pollen, dander and possibly even smoke circulate in the air and your lungs are better off not inhaling these pollutants.

Have allergies or asthma?  Yet another good reason to change your air conditioning filters is to let your system filter out these contaminates so you have an easier time breathing this Spring! According to WebMD, both the US Environmental Agency and Lung Association recommend those with allergies and asthma to change their filters regularly.

Lower Utility Bills:

Another big reason to change your air filters is to save energy and lower your utility bills! The past few weeks we have talked a great deal about many reasons to be energy efficient.

As your filters get filled with contaminates, your air conditioning unit has to work much harder to pull air through. It uses more energy to circulate air and adjust the temperatures.  Think of it as your Air Conditioner having a hard time breathing as well!

Want help?  We change out air filters during our air conditioning tune ups. We have just a few days left to offer the $50 Duke rebate program! Give us a call at 800-461-3010 to schedule yours today before time runs out!

Energy Efficiency Makes You More Comfortable

One of our last reasons to be energy efficient in this segment is regarding your comfort! No one likes being hot in the summer because their Air Conditioning unit isn’t working well!  One of the worst things is having your Air Conditioner go out altogether on a hot summer day!

We’ve been talking about how important it is to maintain your air conditioner throughout the season.  We’ve also been giving you plenty of reasons to become more energy efficient by having your air conditioning unit serviced regularly. You also save money by having your unit and filters cleaned out regularly by our service technicians.  As we have said in the past, it’s the same as having the oil changed in your car.

Businesses can also benefit by having their air conditioning units regularly maintained as well.  The less money a business owner has to pay in overhead, the more likely they are to give you a raise! Help your employer become more energy efficient by not only servicing their air conditioning units but controlling the thermostats so that the air conditioning doesn’t run continually when business hours are closed.

Have you ever had your air conditioner serviced? If not, please give us a call.  Central Carolina Air Conditioning services Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem, Burlington, Thomasville, Clemmons and other surrounding North Carolina areas!  We would love to help you be more comfortable this upcoming summer! Give us a call at 800-461-3010 to schedule yours today! And don’t miss out on our $50 Duke energy rebate program through the end of April!

Energy Efficiency and National Security?

images

This one may surprise you.  Did you know that by being energy efficient, you are actually helping national security? The past two weeks we’ve been discussing reasons you need to be energy efficient at home by maintaining your heating and air conditioning equipment.  Here are the reasons we’ve discussed so far:

1. Energy efficiency saves you money (and who doesn’t want extra money?)

2. Energy efficiency helps the economy (more jobs and less people out of work!)

3. Energy efficiency is good for the environment (lets use less natural resources!)

And today we’re going to discuss that being energy efficient actually helps national security.  Here at Central Carolina Air Conditioning we are huge patriots. We love our country and our home state of North Carolina! Our goal is to be as energy efficient as possible as well with our business and services!

By being energy efficient with our heating and air conditioning maintenance programs, we use fewer natural resources which keeps us from being as oil dependent from overseas.

Not only are we trying to be energy efficient here at Central Carolina Air Conditioning, but so is the United States military. They are working to improve the energy efficiency of our military vehicles and equipment. This allows them to invest more of our tax dollars in other defense programs.

We also need to keep our troops overseas safe by helping them be energy efficient! Our military forces need fuel for their missions and fuel tankers are largely targeted by our enemies.  Back in 2011, there were 1,100 attacks on fuel convoys according to the Alliance to Save Energy. As much as 80% of our supply to our troops is for fuel and sadly, soldiers die when our fueling convoys are hit. However, if they can use more energy efficient electric and hybrid type vehicles and other energy efficient equipment, then less fueling convoys are needed.

So we urge you to do your part! Have questions? Join us on Facebook here and post your question for Bobby! We’d love to talk to you!

What Do Lightbulbs Have to Do with Oil?

We’ve been talking recently about the many reasons to be energy efficient and maintain your heating and cooling units with a service agreement.  You can read back in our posts about ways to be energy efficient and how it saves you money and even helps the economy!

Did you know that by being energy efficient, the US has to produce or import less oil? According to the Alliance to Save Energy, we use 56% energy today than in the past. By being energy efficient, we also use less natural resources like natural gas and coal as well.

And as we consume less energy, we emit less pollutants into the environment.  This helps us stop emitting as many greenhouse gases which overtime not only hurt the ozone but also air quality as well. While scientists still debate exactly how these impact overall temperatures, we want to proactively do our part and always be mindful of energy efficiency. Using less natural resources will help generations to come so remember to switch out those old light bulbs with energy-efficient halogens, CFLs or LEDs!

Reasons to Care about Energy Efficiency

images

We started talking earlier this week about reasons to care about being energy efficient.  Many people talk about being energy efficient by using energy-efficient halogens, CFLs or LEDs or buying newer energy efficient appliances.  Did you know that it actually helps our economy here in America  as well?

  • By working together to be energy efficient, the American government, businesses and citizens can save nearly $500 Billion a year in unnecessary energy costs!
  • Also, energy efficient projects create jobs here at home such as building improvements and structural repairs!
  • Lawmakers making energy-efficient policies lead to breakthroughs among manufacturers innovation wise. For instance, standards that started in 2012 requiring light bulbs to be at least 25% more energy efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs created  new lighting innovations!

By smart about being energy efficient in your own home.  Remember that maintaining your air conditioning unit prevents unnecessary repairs many times and allow better air flow to your home, cutting down on your electric bill!  Give us a call and will schedule an appointment to maintain yours next week! 336-299-3010.

Why Should You Care About Energy Efficiency?

images

We have talked previously about the benefits of maintaining your heating and air conditioning units.  It actually saves you money in the long run!  But did you also know other ways to be energy efficient?

  • You can actually save up to 30% on your electrical bill by buying energy star appliances
  • By utilizing energy-efficient halogens, CFLs or LEDs you save 30-80% on your energy bill as well! You could save up to $100 a year by replacing those old incandescents! Who doesn’t want an extra $100 in their pocket?
  • By washing your clothes in cold water instead of hot could save you as much as $63 a year as well!

Many of us grew up leaving the lights on all day long at home whether we were home or not.  We now know better.  Did you know that being energy efficient not only helps the environment but helps our economy as well?

Stay tuned this week as we talk more about Why You Should Care About Energy Efficiency.
